Rep. Jefferson Supports Key Measures for Louisiana Agriculture

Today, Rep. Jefferson showed support for the needs of Louisiana agriculture by voting in favor of The Farm Bill, H.R. 2419, The Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2007.

"This year's Farm Bill shows a dedication and partnership with Louisiana's and the nation's farmers that are due our increased support," said Jefferson after voting. "Additionally, the emphasis on nutrition for our senior citizens, our children and all those in between is important due to rising food costs. Over two million people in Louisiana take part in USDA food programs and this legislation expands and improves these programs to better serve our citizens."

The Farm Bill addresses commodity prices, promotes biofuel exploration beyond corn, promotes conservation efforts, provides funding for international food aid and invests in rural communities and research.
